One of the major sources of cracked iPhone apps are installed through an app rightfully named “Installous.” If you don’t know about it, than that’s probably a good thing, But it seems that Installous has closed it’s doors. Another cracked app gateway called AppTrackr appears to have popped up in it’s place. We’ll see how this unravels.
For those not up to date, the guys behind Installous have been fighting legal issues and it looks like they are loosing the battle. Ultimately the users need to support the devs by buying the apps. Most are under $10. I remember paying $9.99 for Pac-Man on my old RAZR. I understand if some want to “test” the apps before officially purchasing, but I think the developers should be paid for their work.
I’ve used Installous for a while. It’s tight cause you can find almost any cracked app from the app store. But the ones I like, I end up purchasing anyways. It’s worth it for the free upgrades.
Yeh always best to buy the app. But when Installous falls, something new will rise.
